Superyacht Machinery Intelligence

Be informed before something small
becomes something expensive.

Oscillex combines wireless vibration sensors, real-time sea state data, and your vessel's own engine telemetry into continuous machinery intelligence. Three data streams. Two alerts. Every reading contextualised against the ocean conditions at that moment — so the alerts you receive mean something.

The product

Two alerts.
Everything you need to know.

Oscillex does not produce dashboards full of numbers. It produces two specific alert types — when they matter, with the context to act on them. Both are available from day one of installation with no baseline run or calibration period required.

Alert type 1

Abnormal spike — something unexpected is happening now

When vibration rises significantly above recent readings, three discrimination levels apply in sequence — most alerts resolved within the same 10-minute polling cycle.

Level 1 — Cross-sensor validation (immediate): all sensors queried simultaneously. One machine elevated while others read normally — mechanical fault confirmed, alert fires at once. All sensors spiking together — vessel-level event, check sea state.

Level 2 — Sea state check (immediate): beam sea in 2m swell explains all sensors together. All sensors elevated in calm conditions — structural alert fires.

Level 3 — Heading change test (fallback only): for genuinely ambiguous mixed-sensor patterns over a 9-hour window. Not the primary discriminator.
⚠ Port Main Engine · S-01 · 07:40 UTC
Reading: 0.068g RMS  (+34% above baseline at cruise RPM)
Cross-sensor: 1 of 20 sensors elevated  ·  correlation 0.05 — isolated
Sea state: 1.4m · 74° encounter angle — irrelevant, ocean ruled out
Machine-specific fault confirmed. Inspect at next opportunity.
Alert type 2

Trend warning — a machine needs attention before its next service

Three inputs available from day one — no baseline run required — produce one actionable output weeks ahead of any failure.

Vibration trend: sea-state-filtered slope of readings over recent weeks, computed automatically.

Manufacturer ceiling: published maximum acceptable vibration from the OEM manual, entered once per machine type at onboarding and shared across all vessels with matching equipment.

Next service date: from the monthly PMS log extract. If the trend projects to cross the ceiling before the service — CE and fleet superintendent notified. Weeks ahead.
◐ Starboard Gearbox (ZF 3050A) · Trend report
Current: 0.058g RMS  ·  Manufacturer ceiling: 0.110g RMS
Trend: +0.003g per week (sea-state filtered, 6-week average)
Next service: 18 weeks  ·  Projected ceiling crossing: 17 weeks
Ceiling projected 1 week before service. Review schedule.
How it works

Five layers.
One complete picture.

Every 10 minutes, per sensor, Oscillex joins vibration readings with engine telemetry and real-time sea state — then validates the result across all sensors simultaneously before any alert fires.

01
Vibration sensors

BeanAir Wilow AX-3D sensors on all critical machinery. IP67, hard-wired to 24VDC, 24-bit ADC. Magnetic or adhesive mount. CE installs in one day. Reading every 10 minutes via vessel WiFi.

02
NMEA engine data

Engine RPM, oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temp, fuel rate, alternator voltage, and all ECU alarm flags — read directly from the vessel NMEA 2000 network. No additional sensors or modification to existing systems.

03
Real-time sea state

Wave height, swell direction, swell period, and wave encounter angle computed from vessel heading — polled at vessel position every 10 minutes. Every vibration reading tagged with what the ocean was doing at that exact moment.

04
Cross-sensor validation

Every spike checked against all other sensors simultaneously. One machine elevated while 19 read normally — mechanical. All sensors together in a beam sea — ocean. Most alerts resolved within the same polling cycle. No 9-hour wait for ambiguous readings.

05
PMS verification

Every maintenance event cross-referenced against four independent data layers — physical activity signatures, duration against manufacturer procedure time, and post-restart vibration change. The first independently verified maintenance record in the industry.

For management companies

Your entire fleet.
Monday morning, from your desk.

For the first time, a technical superintendent can see the independently verified machinery condition of every managed vessel — without phoning a captain, without relying on a CE report, without waiting for the next survey.

Chief Engineer & Captain

A tool that watches so you don't have to

You know your machinery better than any sensor will. Oscillex makes sure nothing changes without you knowing about it. When something spikes — and the ocean and all other sensors have been ruled out — you get a precise notification with the context to decide what to do next. The engineering judgement stays with you. The information is guaranteed.

Technical Superintendent

Independent fleet intelligence from your desk

You have a duty of care to protect assets worth €30 million or more. Oscillex gives your team independent, continuously verified insight into the machinery condition of every managed vessel — not what the engineer reports, but what the sensors measure, cross-referenced against four independent verification layers. That distinction matters when something goes wrong.

Owner & Asset Manager

Your machinery tells you its own story

A vessel that runs Oscillex accumulates years of independently verified operational data. Every maintenance event verified. Every bearing trend recorded. Every service interval calibrated against actual machine condition rather than the manufacturer's conservative calendar. At refit, at survey, at sale — that history has value nobody else can provide.
